STATEMENT: MINI CHALLENGE, 10 SEPTEMBER
Following technical checks carried out at conclusion of Round 15 of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy, the gearbox from car #38 (Westbourne Motorsport) was sealed and sent to an independent specialist for further investigation.
All other cars checked following Round 15 were found to conform to championship regulations.
Prior to the inspection of the gearbox differential of car #38 by the independent specialist, and following the team’s own investigation, Westbourne Motorsport provided a written statement declaring that the part failed to comply with Article 5.9.4 of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy Sporting and Technical Regulations.
With the part having been fitted ahead of Round 10 at Croft on 28 June, car #38 is therefore excluded from the results of Rounds 10-15 inclusive.
Although Westbourne Motorsport sub contracts all gearbox repairs to trusted and reputable external suppliers and therefore had no prior knowledge of the specification error, the team takes full responsibility for the technical non-compliance.
The team would also like to place on record that Olivier Algieri, who has competed in car #38 this season in an Arrive and Drive capacity, bears no responsibility or liability for the issue, and was unaware that the gearbox failed to comply with the technical regulations.
Revised results for Rounds 10-15 of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy, and updated championship standings ,will be confirmed shortly.
