JAMES TAYLOR JOINS EXPANDED TEAM AVAGO LINE-UP
Former Ginetta racer James Taylor will make a return to action in the final rounds of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy season after joining forces with Team Avago.
Taylor will line-up as part an expanded three-car team alongside Avago regulars Josh Wilby and Louis Fleet for the three races around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in what will be his first competitive action for more than twelve months.
The 23-year-old Yorkshireman first moved into car racing back in 2018 after winning the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, scoring multiple wins across two seasons in the series and winning the Winter Series title before moving into the Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
Having finished as runner-up in 2020, he then took time away from racing before returning to competition in the 2022 Ginetta GT Supercup, where he took third in the G55 Pro class.
Taylor’s return to action in the Cooper class of the MINI CHALLENGE will mark a new chapter in his career with a switch to front-wheel drive, with his other previous race experience coming in the likes of the GT Cup and Britcar.
“Having not raced for a while, I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel,” he said. “I’ve never raced in a MINI before so it’s going to a whole new experience for me, but I’m up for the challenge and am aiming to try and fight for a place on the podium.”
Team principal Dave Sutton was delighted to be able to expand the driver line-up for the season finale.
“We’re really excited to welcome James into the team because he has shown throughout his career what he can do behind the wheel,” he said.
“It’s great to see him back on track and we’re sure he will be right at the sharp end. It’s a big weekend for the team with Josh still in contention for the title and we can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch!”
