JACOB BALDRY SET FOR MINI CHALLENGE TROPHY BOW AT BRANDS HATCH

Jacob Baldry will make his debut in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy this weekend at Brands Hatch after joining forces with Chandler Motorsport.

The teenager will form part of an expanded three-car line-up for the season finale as he hits the track alongside team regular Cameron Wood and Steven Chandler.

Wood will take part in the event despite being one of the drivers caught up in the huge accident that occurred last time out at Silverstone, with Chandler returning to the Cooper field for the first time this year having competed in the JCW class at the start of the season.

Baldry’s entry into the final three races of the year comes as he evaluates his plans for 2026, with work ongoing to secure the backing required to join the grid on a full-time basis.

The former Junior Saloon Car Championship racer has been out of action since May when he scored two class podiums in the Track Action series – giving him a record of four podiums in six starts this season.

Although not eligible for points this weekend, Baldry will hope to challenge towards the sharp end in the ultra-competitive series as he seeks to lay the foundations for next year.

“I’m proud to announce I’ll be stepping up into the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy for the final round with Chandler Motorsport,” he said.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been in a car, but I’m ready to make the most of this opportunity and push for a strong result.

“Hopefully this can be the springboard towards a full season in 2026, which is ultimately what I would love to do next season.”

Team boss Eddie Chandler was pleased to welcome Baldry into the line-up as the two-time Rookie Cup winners prepares to conclude its third season in the series.

“It’s great to have Jacob onboard at Brands Hatch for the final round of the year, and to be out on track with three cars for our home meeting,” he said.

“Jacob is a young driver with a lot of potential and hopefully we can help him show what he can do during the weekend ahead.”
