REGULATIONS CHANGES REVEALED FOR 2025 VERTU MINI CHALLENGE

A number of regulation changes have been confirmed for the 2025 Vertu MINI CHALLENGE season ahead of the opening rounds of the campaign this month.

The Cooper class will compete for the first time at Snetterton this weekend, with action in the JCW and JCW Sport classes then getting underway at Donington Park on 26/27 April.

Amendments to the regulations across all three classes have now been communicated to teams ahead of the opening rounds, with the key revisions as follows.

Race Distances:

Race distances for the ten meetings held alongside the British Touring Car Championship – covering the full JCW/JCW Sport season and three events for the Cooper class – will be amended this season with drivers offered additional track time compared to in 2024.

For JCW and JCW Sport entrants, the final race of the weekend will run a duration of 25 minutes at Donington Park, Oulton Park, Croft and Knockhill.

For Cooper class entrants, the four non-TOCA race meetings will all feature three races of 15 minutes, with the meetings at TOCA (Thruxton and Donington Park GP) offering additional track time for the final race of the weekend.

For All Classes, race one on the Saturdays at the TOCA weekends will run to a duration of 20 minutes with an opportunity of five minutes contingency added in the event of a safety car, as with BTCC races. Race two will continue to run to a fixed duration of 20 minutes.

Points Scoring:

The points scoring system across all three classes remains unchanged for 2025, with the all finishing drivers scoring points on a sliding scale from 50 down to 15. An additional six points will be given to the fastest time in qualifying in each class.

For the new season, the fastest race lap in each class will now be worth three points – half what was available in 2024.

The rules around dropped scores have also been revised, with EVERY race now being counted in both the JCW and JCW Sport classes.

In the Cooper class, drivers will now drop their worst score from the season rather than their two worst scores.

Entries:

For the new season, teams will be limited to running a maximum of four cars in any individual class. Should a team wish to run more than four cars, then it will be required to submit a request in writing to the Championship Organisers for approval to operate a satellite team.

Reverse Grids:

The rules around the reverse grid have been tweaked for the JCW and JCW Sport classes to bring them inline with the Cooper class.

As a result, on those weekends where there are three races, the grid for race two will be decided by a random draw that will see anywhere from the top six to top ten overall from the previous race reversed.
