NICK TANDY DOUBLES UP IN JCW SEASON FINALE

Nick Tandy capped an impressive guest outing in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE with a second win of the weekend in the Brands Hatch season finale.

The Le Mans 24 Hours winner was drafted in by NAPA Racing UK to assist the team in its quest to secure the Teams’ Championship after Jamie Osborne was ruled out of the weekend through illness.

Nathan Edwards had lined up on pole after topping qualifying and the EXCELR8 man held the lead at the start, with Tandy jumping ahead of new champion Tom Ovenden into second spot.

Tandy soon made his move for the lead and on lap two, was able to nip ahead of Edwards to hit the front, only for the race one winner to then try and battle back a lap later.

All that did however was open the door for Max Edmundson behind after he cleared Ovenden, with the Rookie Cup winner jumping up into second spot.

Tandy however wasn’t to be denied and set the fastest lap of the race en-route to victory, with second for Edmundson allowing him to steal second overall in the standings right at the end.

“It’s been a big learning curve this weekend but I’ve really enjoyed it,” Tandy said. “To be at the top in this series you’ve really got to be at the top of your game as the guys at the front of the field are super quick. It’s been a pleasure to come in and race against them.”

Edwards signed off his season with third place ahead of of Ovenden, with former champion Nathan Harrison again showing his pace as he raced his way to fifth, with the top six being rounded out by Josh Porter.

Alex Solley took seventh from Charlie Hand, with Lewis Selby and Harry Campey rounding out the top ten.

Selby ended the season third in the standings after a penalty for contact with Harry Hickton in the second race of the weekend cost him dear, with Edwards, Porter and the absent Osborne rounding out the end of year top six.
