LEGENDS RACER JOINS KNOCKHILL ENTRY

Brent Bowie will make a return to the BTCC support package this weekend after signing up to contest the latest rounds of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE at Knockhill.

Bowie took part in the event last season in the Legends Cars Elite Cup having also previously competed on a number of occasions in the Scottish Legends Cars Championship.

The 43-year-old – who is managing director of one of the largest independent cooperages in the UK – will make his first outing in the MINI CHALLENGE in the headline JCW class with series newcomers BPC Motorsport.

The team has previously competed in a wide range of championships that includes Fiesta Juniors and the Citroen C1 Challenge, and will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of JWB Motorsport during the weekend ahead as the race-winning outfit returns to the MINI CHALLENGE paddock.

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend, and making my MINI CHALLENGE debut,” Bowie said.

“I’ve previously raced at Knockhill in the Legends so I’m not completely green when it comes to the track, but will need to learn the car – and hopefully we can do that in testing and I can be on the pace for qualifying.

“I want to get as close as I can to the midfield pack and having asked some of the Legends drivers for hints and tips, they told me to just hit the go pedal and send it!

“In all seriousness, I’m not expecting miracles this weekend given my lack of experience and the fact everything will be new. I just want to find my feet and come away from the event with some respectable results to my name.”
