CJ MORGAN SET FOR CROFT DEBUT

CJ Morgan will become the latest driver to make his debut in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy this weekend when he joins the grid for the MINI Festival event at Croft.

Morgan will join the Chandler Motorsport line-up for the first of two planned outings in the series before the end of the year, with the teenager also set to contest the season finale at Brands Hatch in early November.

Whilst the 18-year-old will be competing in the series for the first time in North Yorkshire, he is no stranger to the Chandler Motorsport squad having first joined forces with the Essex-based team during the 2022 Junior Saloon Car Championship season.

Having scored a maiden podium finish at Donington Park, Morgan remained with the team last season and kicked off the campaign in fine style by grabbing pole position for the opening rounds of the year at Cadwell Park.

A front-runner throughout the campaign, Morgan would score podium finishes at Anglesey, Oulton Park, Thruxton and Snetterton en-route to sixth in the championship standings.

This season, Morgan has been competing with the team in Track Action in a Peugeot 206 GTI and was the dominant force in the early stages of the season – scoring a double class win at Brands Hatch in round one before taking three wins from three at Pembrey in round two.

Further podiums followed at Castle Combe before a pause in his racing programme, with this weekend marking a return to action as Morgan turns his focus towards trying to graduate to the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy grid full-time in 2025.

“This weekend is going to be a big step up for me and I can’t wait to get out on track,” he said. “I’m making the step up with a team that I know well from recent seasons which is going to be a massive help, and my focus is on making sure that I do the best job I can from the three races.

“It’s all about learning as much as I can to help me prepare for next year, when hopefully I can be part of the grid and looking to challenge for some honours.”
