ANTONY SULLIVAN SECURES SECOND MINI CHALLENGE OUTING

Antony Sullivan will make his second appearance in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE this weekend after agreeing a deal to join EXCELR8 for the Brands Hatch season finale.

Sullivan made his debut in the series at Croft earlier in the season with JamSport Racing, scoring a best finish of twelfth overall – and seventh in class – in the second race of the weekend.

The JCW outing came alongside a partial campaign for the 40-year-old in the Fiesta ST150 Challenge, where his best result of the year was eighth place on home soil at Oulton Park.

The decision to return to the MINI CHALLENGE for the season finale comes on the back of Sullivan joining forces with EXCELR8 for the Silverstone British Touring Car Championship event last month.

Sullivan was amongst those to answer the call to help three-time MINI CHALLENGE champion Dan Zelos remain on the touring car grid, with the family business Broadheath Recovery Services featuring on Zelos’ Hyundai as he picked up a Jack Sears Trophy win.

That relationship in turn provided an opportunity to join the JCW grid, with Sullivan hoping to use the weekend as a springboard towards a spot on the grid for 2025.

“It’s great to be able to return to the JCW grid at Brands Hatch after the outing at Croft earlier in the year, and to join forces with a team like EXCELR8,” he said.

“We had the opportunity to step in and help Dan with his BTCC programme and as well as building a relationship with him across the Silverstone weekend, we also got talking with EXCELR8 about potential opportunities.

“With some new partners onboard, and the backing of my existing team boss from the Fiesta Challenge who will be working with me, we’ve been able to do a deal to take part in the finale.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to build on the results I picked up at Croft earlier in the season, and can start to put plans in place with my partners as we look towards 2025.”

EXCELR8 Team Owner Justina Williams expressed her hopes for Sullivan for the weekend ahead.

“It’s great to welcome Antony into the team for the season finale, and to give him the chance to gain further experience in the JCW car,” she said.

“Having been able to pick up two solid results at Croft earlier in the year, we look forward to working with him to progress up the order at Brands Hatch and hopefully can help him to push forwards into the top ten.”
