CAMERON WOOD RETURNS TO COOPER LINE-UP
Cameron Wood will return to the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy for a second season in 2025 after signing up for another year with the Chandler Motorsport team.
Wood made the move into the Cooper class in 2024 having previously competed in karting, forming part of Chandler’s expanded programme as it looked to defend the Rookie Cup title it won with Rhys Hurd in 2023.
Taking on the challenge of one of the most competitive championships in UK motorsport as he made a return to competitive action, Wood was able to learn a huge amount over the course of the campaign as he was able to regularly fight towards the front half of the field.
Scoring a best finish of 13th overall, Wood would score three Rookie Cup podium finishes during the season as he finished fifth amongst the first year drivers.
Going into 2025 with a vital year of experience now under his belt, Wood will now hope to progress up the overall pecking order, with the initial goal of breaking into the top ten for the first time as he continued his quest to battle towards the front of the grid.
Wood will also seek to make an impression in the race for the Graduate Cup, the award open to drivers embarking on their second season in the championship.
“I’m so excited to be entering my second season in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE, particularly when it will once again be alongside Chandler Motorsport,” he said. “Having not raced for a decade before joining the grid last season, I was taking a big step into the unknown but I felt I made a lot of progress and am looking forward to continuing that in 2025.
“A big thank you must go to the team and to MHR Motorsport for giving me the opportunity to compete as part of such a competitive grid, and for giving me an unbelievable car every time I got out on track.
“I’m particularly grateful to the team for the fact that I will have a brand new car for this season as it gives me the best possible opportunity to achieve my goals and fight closer to the front. I can’t wait to get started!”
