HARRY CAMPEY ADDED TO EXCELR8 LINE-UP FOR 2025
EXCELR8 has confirmed the addition of Harry Campey to its line-up for the 2025 Vertu MINI CHALLENGE season ahead of the opening weekend of the year at Donington Park.
Following a five year career in karting as a youngster, which included winning the Rotax Minimax British Open in 2011, Campey moved into car racing in the 750 Motor Club before stepping away from the sport to focus on his career and the family business; a successful Yorkshire-based haulage company that now operates a triple figure fleet of trucks.
Campey now returns to action after twelve year out as partner to Marlo Cordell in a two-car line-up under the EXCELR8 Motorsport banner, with the team’s remaining entries running under the EXCELR8 Driver Development Programme name.
“It’s been more than ten years since I raced but I’m in a position now where I’m able to get back into it and I figured if it was something that I was going to do, I was going to do it properly!” Campey said.
“I only really made the decision at the end of January, so it’s been a hectic few months getting everything in place. There were a few routes I could have taken, but the JCW series provides fantastic exposure for us as a business, and it will be a great way for us to entertain sponsors and staff during the season.
“The car is more technical and more challenging than anything I’ve driven before, but it’s also very exciting to drive and I’m really enjoying it. I’m not expecting to go out there and set the world alight in my rookie season, but I’m also not there to just make up the numbers.
“I’ve got a lot of experienced people around me and as I spend more time in the car, I hope we can move forwards.”
Team Owner Justina Williams said she was pleased to welcome Campey into the JCW line-up for 2025.
“We’re delighted to give Harry the opportunity to return to racing this season as part of our JCW line-up,” she said. “Although he has been away from competition for a while, he showed his on-track potential with championship winning performances earlier in his career.
“Given the encouraging pace he has displayed in testing so far, we are looking forward to seeing how he progresses during the year ahead and are confident that he will be able to deliver some strong results as the season goes on.”
