STEVEN CHANDLER SECURES SECOND JCW OUTING AT SNETTERTON

Steven Chandler will remain at the wheel of the Sustainable Fuel Development car when the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE heads for Snetterton this weekend for the second round of the season.

Chandler made his debut in the JCW class during the season opener at Donington Park, which also marked the first outing in the category for his family-run Chandler Motorsport team after race-winning success in Coopers in recent seasons.

Even considering the limited testing he had been able to do prior to the opening round, Chandler produced a number of eye-catching results on track at Donington Park, scoring a best finish of fourth in the second race of the weekend.

Although not eligible for points or trophies as a guest entrant, that result saw him take the flag as the leading rookie driver in the field, whilst his results across the weekend would have left him well placed in the standings had he been able to score.

Chandler made no secret of his desire to try and secure additional outings in the car, which is set to be raced by a number of different drivers across the season – as was the case in JCW Sport last year.

That outing will now come sooner than expected when Chandler gets back behind the wheel for round two, with fresh support from new sponsors Rolling Sims and Sensilis as well as backing from Damico – who are keen to help him build on the development work carried out at Donington Park.

“I’m super happy to be back at the wheel of the Sustainable Fuel Development car this weekend, rather than working on it in the paddock!” he said. “Donington Park was a really solid start where the results far exceeded my expectations and it’s brilliant that I’ll now have the chance to try and build on those performances when we get to Snetterton.

“This is all part of helping the MINI CHALLENGE progress towards a more sustainable future and a huge thank you to the series, my team and my sponsors for helping me to be part of the grid again this weekend.”

Subsidised drives in the car are still available for a number of events this season, with further details available by emailing rhea@minichallenge.co.uk
