TOM OVENDEN PROMOTED TO VICTORY AFTER POST-RACE INVESTIGATIONS

Tom Ovenden has been declared as the winner of the opening Vertu MINI CHALLENGE race of the weekend at Croft after a series of post-race investigations at the circuit.

Ovenden was one of three drivers to be handed a five second time penalty over the course of the race for exceeding track limits, which dropped him behind team-mate Nathan Edwards in the final reckoning.

Championship leader Jamie Osborne and rookie Albert Webster were also hit with similar penalties.

However, following the conclusion of the race and after reviewing the evidence with the judge of fact, the decision was taken by the Clerk of the Course to overturn the three penalties.

As a result, Ovenden has now been declared as the winner of the race ahead of Edwards, with Osborne moving up into third spot after his penalty originally dropped him down to fifth.

Webster’s penalty had demoted him back to ninth, with the removal of his penalty moving up back up into sixth place.

Revised result:
1 – Tom Ovenden
2 – Nathan Edwards
3 – Jamie Osborne
4 – Lewis Selby
5 – Harry Hickton
6 – Albert Webster
7 – Jacob Hodgkiss
8 – Alex Solley
9 – Josh Porter
10 – Harry Campey
